Unit 1, at the landward end of the yard
The registered office and the working room are the same address: Unit 1, Universal Shipyard, Sarisbury Green, Southampton SO31 7ZN. The yard sits on the west bank of the River Hamble, and the unit is at its landward end, reached by the lane in from the road through Sarisbury Green rather than from the water.
A boatyard unit rather than an office floor is a deliberate choice for this kind of work. The room has wall, and wall is what a surface specification needs: eleven sheets pinned up at once, at a size two people can read together, is not a thing a screen does.
The review wall, and the three boards
- 01The surface wall — the eleven sheets, pinned in specification order, left to right. A surface is not signed off while its sheet is off the wall, which is the whole point of the wall rather than a folder.
- 02The tree board — the category tree at full width, with the three-click line drawn across it. Anything below the line has to show its second route pinned beside it.
- 03The register board — the slug register, with the reserved words in a column of their own so that a proposed slug is checked against them before it is written anywhere.
The bench under the surface wall is where the keyboard pass and the zoom pass are run, on the devices the passes are written for rather than on whatever is nearest.
The signed change notes and restore records live on the shelf above it, in date order, because the question they answer is almost always “what changed just before this”.
Post, correspondence and visits
- PostComes to the registered office at the address above, and is opened in the unit.
- Emailmembers@perksgroupuk.buzz is the only address this company publishes. Anything about what is held on this site or in this unit is answered from there.
- VisitsThe unit is inside a working boatyard, so arrival is through the yard entrance and a visit is arranged in writing first. That is a condition of the yard rather than a policy of ours, which is why there is no drop-in arrangement to describe.
Nothing on this site asks a reader for anything. There is no form that posts anywhere, no account to open and no enquiry to submit — the two panels on the home page do their arithmetic in the browser and keep none of it. If something here needs a reply, the email address above is the whole mechanism.
